In 2018, local artist Kamea Hadar partnered with Festa Italiana, Velocity Honolulu and Xero Wraps to wrap a 2018 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2. The “Lazarus” wrapped Huracan LP580-2 made its debut at the 2018 Festa Italiana.

LAZARUS, 2018

Lazarus uses the ancient Italian technique of chiaroscuro ((from Italian: chiaro, “light,” and scuro, “dark”), a classic technique used in works of the Renaissance which combines high contrasts of light and dark to enhance not only the depth of a painting but the drama as well. I wanted to highlight the dualities of ancient and modern, of natural and urban, and the mixing of cultures in Hawaii. I do not think that change and modernization reflect a 'death' of tradition, but rather a rebirth into the future that creates amazing hybrids of culture. With modern technology, ease of travel, and instant access and trade of information (like the Internet and social media) Hawaii has transformed from an island into a hub. 

Our melting pot of different people, traditions, and art, have made Hawaii into one of the most unique places in the world, that is not only known for its natural beauty, but also its modern urban cultures. The imagery is a modern take on the traditional Hawaiian floral pattern, depicting tropical flowers that contrast greatly with the dark background. Adding to this contrast is the application of the work to the 2018 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2, a car that is a pinnacle of modern-day engineering and technology and a visually stunning symbol of the like.
